MBTA Ponders How to Make Fares More Fair

• The MBTA wants to hear from community members about proposed changes that could help low income riders and increase ridership.
Transportation is…expensive. Finding the right balance to support the MBTA system and not raise costs beyond what riders can afford is a particularly tough challenge. So when an opportunity arose to make a popular, but temporary, program permanent, the MBTA wanted to test the waters. They are seeking feedback to find out whether everyone is willing to go their way.
