The Needham Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2498 will be honoring Needham’s Vietnam Veterans and all Vietnam-Era veterans on March 29^th, 2024, on National Vietnam War Veterans Day, proclaimed by the President of the United States.

March 29^th is the date the last U.S. combat troops departed Vietnam. In addition, on and around this same day Hanoi released the last of its acknowledged prisoners of war. All veterans are welcome, no membership required.

A brief ceremony is planned at the Needham Vietnam Memorial on Cefalo Road, at 11:00AM, followed by a lunch at the Needham VFW Post on 20 Junction Street, Needham.

According to Tom Keating, Chaplain of the VFW Post, and a US Army veteran of the war, “We invite all Veterans in town to attend. No membership is required. Just come and meet other veterans and enjoy a nice lunch. This is a day to be honored for our service in the war.”

Out of the 2.7 million U.S. service members who served in Vietnam, more than 58,000 were killed and more than 304,000 were wounded.
