Honoring Veterans this November

November 4, 2023
• This month there will be many opportunities to honor veterans near and far with a few events being hosted by town departments and organizations.

On Saturday, November 11th, the town will be hosting it’s annual observance at Memorial Park starting at 11am. Alongside the speakers, dignitaries and flag raising there will also be coffee and donuts served, courtesy of the Needham Exchange Club and a collation immediately following at the Needham VFW Post 2498.

In fact, throughout the month, the Exchange Club will be participating in a clothing drive for the New England Center and Home for Veterans. They have put out a call specifically for underwear for both men and women, but will also accept gift cards and cash donations. Collection points have been set for several locations around town over the next week leading up to Veterans Day.

The Needham Council on Aging and the Center at the Heights also have a few events lined up with veterans in mind. On Thursday, November 9th, they will be hosting a Veterans Day dinner where vets of all ages can learn about the different services that are available within the town. Later in the month, Bob Begin will present a lecture on the USS Bunker Hill, which served the country in the Pacific during World War II. The talk will take place on Wednesday, November 22nd at 1pm.
