NPS Rollout of Canvas Moves Forward

June 4, 2026
• At the School Committee meeting on Tuesday, June 2, school officials provided an update on the execution of a new learning management system, acknowledging the recent data breach it was involved in.

As the 2025-2026 school year comes to an end, so does phase one of the Needham Public School’s incorporation of the Canvas learning management system. This comes after the school district sought a replacement for their current learning management system, Google Classroom.

School officials decided to go with Canvas because they said they felt it provides the most features which support the district’s strategic priorities. Those goals include the potential of enhancing communication and family partnerships, providing more support for student growth, fostering innovation, and providing a central, standardized organizational infrastructure than the one they are currently working with.

Municipal Producer Melissa Marchese has more on the status of the Canvas rollout, and the administrators’ reaction to the recent cybersecurity breach the learning management system had recently suffered.
