Veterans Honored with Wreaths in Needham Ceremony

December 15, 2025
• Needhamites paid tribute to fallen military service members with more than 1,000 wreaths as part of a nationwide initiative.

On Saturday afternoon, the Needham chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution hosted a local Wreaths Across America ceremony at Needham Cemetery. The annual event, now in its fifth year in Needham, honors deceased veterans by placing wreaths on their graves.

Local officials, veterans and more than 100 attendees gathered within the cemetery’s veterans’ section to hear remarks and later walk through the cemetery with wreaths. Off the path, graves were marked with American flags, denoting that a veteran was laid to rest there.

Of the approximately 1,500 veterans buried at Needham Cemetery, the town laid 1,092 wreaths — an increase of nearly 60% compared to last year’s ceremony.

The Needham Channel’s Derick Risner was there to photograph the event.
