Survey Results Concern Committee
November 22, 2024
• Needham School Committee members were concerned about what the results of the MetroWest Adolescent Health Survey showed about student mental health.
The MetroWest Adolescent Health Survey is typically used to track health trends and potentially harmful behavior among middle school and high school aged students. Run by the MetroWest Health Foundation it allows the 25 communities in the region compare their results over time and in relation to their peers. The 2023 results of the voluntary and anonymous survey were discussed at the November 12th school committee meeting. While trends on substance use were largely positive, they found cause for concern when looking at the mental and social health of Needham’s youth. Municipal producer Yuxiao Yuan reports.
