Select Board Eyes Town Future

• The town’s Select Board met for a special session last week, tasked with marking its progress over the past year and creating a vision of where to go in the future.
What should town government do for its citizens? The Needham Select Board have wrestled with that annually through a series of meetings that take a top-down approach to imagining what the town could be and how to best combine the directives of Town Meeting with their own vision for the town while managing the needs of the departments that serve residents and businesses alike. It was a heady mission as they reviewed their accomplishments of the past year and started the work of setting their goals for the next. Marc Mandel provides an overview.
