Zoning Board Deliberates 1688
December 24, 2023
• The latest chapter in the story of the ongoing development of 1688 is set to be written on January 18th, when the Zoning Board of Appeals is scheduled to decide on whether to pull the project’s active building permit.
Even as work progresses in developing the site, neighbors of 1688 Central Avenue have been consistent in pursuing modifications to the plan which would bring a daycare center to that location. It is a path that led from the Planning Board to Land Court and now to the Needham Zoning Board of Appeals. The latest public hearing on the matter was closed on December 14th, and while the final say on the project is likely still a while away, the decision on what happens in the meanwhile is expected to be heard at the next ZBA meeting in January. Municipal Producer Yuxiao Yuan files a recap of the issue, so far.
