Gorse Mill Studios’ Holiday Open Studios and Art Sale
December 8 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Come celebrate Gorse Mill Studios’ 15th anniversary at their annual Holiday Open Studios and sale on Sunday, December 8th, with artists opening their studio doors to the public for browsing and demonstrations from noon to 4:00 pm, followed by a gallery reception until 5:00 pm. Visitors can enjoy the ‘Sharing Light’ exhibit of art from Gorse Mill Studios artists in the Gorse Mill Gallery, celebrating the earliest sunset of the season, which coincides with the event.
This year’s artist demonstrations include pottery making at the Potters’ Shop; unique stone chip sculptures at the studio of artist Michael Bogdanow; and Illustrator and puppeteer John Lechner will be demonstrating different kinds of puppets and how he makes them. During this free event at 31 Thorpe Road in Needham, visitors can meet the artists, including several new artists, tour their studios, and browse and purchase a wide range of original art in an array of media and styles; from ceramics, painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpture to jewelry, hand painted silk scarves, mosaics, photography, illustration, and more.
Michael Bogdanow’s sculptures are made of semi-precious stone chips affixed to an internal skeleton of wire and mesh. His stone chip sculptures often include other materials, such as wood, motors, paintings and more. Enjoy pottery making demonstrations throughout the day by The Potters Shop & School staff and studio members. Join the artists in the gallery at 4:00 for a reception to celebrate Gorse Mill’s 15th anniversary. The annual group exhibit in the gallery will feature works from the artists of Gorse Mill.
Gorse Mill is a former textile factory from the 1800s that was renovated and officially reopened in 2009 to create art studios and the Gorse Mill Gallery. Several artists offer a variety of classes. The building is wheelchair accessible and has free on-site parking. For more information, visit www.gorsemillstudios.com.
