• With the win, Post 14 finishes the regular season 11-5.

Needham Post 14 rallied to defeat Milton Post 114, 7-4, on July 14, powered by a two-home-run night from David Ching.

After falling behind 3-0 in the first, Post 14 held Milton to just one run over the next six innings to complete the comeback.

Milton set the tone early with a leadoff single from John Ghelli. Needham pitcher Brendan McHugh walked the next batter, and Post 114 scored the first run of the game with a single from #5. They continued to add on with an RBI single from Robert Colandreo and an RBI groundout from Alex Hernandez to make it 3-0.

Eli Warn came in to relieve McHugh in the second inning and recorded his first strikeout of the day.

Post 14 got on the board in the bottom of the second with a two-run homer from Ching, to cut the deficit to 3-2.

Milton extended its lead to 4-2 with a sacrifice fly in the top of the third, but Post 14 responded in the bottom half when Will Moore-Ede hit an RBI single to make it 4-3.

Warn recorded the first 1-2-3 inning of the game in the top of the fourth, picking up his second strikeout. He struck out two more in the top of the fifth, and another in the sixth.

Moore-Ede drew a leadoff in the bottom of the sixth, before Kyle Nahabedian doubled over the head of the Milton left fielder, putting two runners in scoring position. Post 14 tied the game at 4-4 when Milton’s reliever, Ghelli, was called for a balk. With two runners on and just one out, Ching smashed his second home run of the day to left-center, giving Needham its first lead of the day at 7-4.

Warn closed out the game in the seventh after allowing a leadoff hit. He finished the game with five strikeouts, while allowing one earned run on five hits.

Post 14 scored seven runs on just five hits in the victory. The District 6 regular season will conclude on July 15, with the playoff seeding to be announced.
