‘Weiner Wednesdays’ Are A Wrap!
July 16, 2026
• The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2498 recently ended their first run of “Weiner Wednesdays” where they hosted veterans and Needham community members for hot dog and fun-filled gatherings.
According to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council — yes, that is an actual organization — around 10% of the annual retail hot dog sales in the United States occur during the month of July, which is also National Hot Dog Month.
This year, Wednesday July 15 was also National Hot Dog Day.
The opportunity proved too tempting for Stacey Giancioppo and Kate Robey. Even though they technically held their last “Weiner Wednesday” event a couple of weeks ago, they said they couldn’t resist going back to the table at least one more time for an evening of food, friends and frankly fun festivities.
Municipal Producer Melissa Marchese spoke with the two women behind the idea of “Weiner Wednesdays” and how they have helped the VFW link veterans with the local community.
