Getting Ready to Reset
January 16, 2025
• Recent events have provided Needham with more time to meet the guidelines set forth in the MBTA Communities Act.
In the wake of last week’s referendum vote that reversed Town Meeting’s adoption of special zoning exceeding the requirements of the MBTA Communities Act, the town is preparing to start the process over. With a vetted base plan and a new later deadline for compliance, some of the anticipated pressures related to the reboot have been eased. The matter will come before both the Select Board and the Planning Board on Tuesday. News and Public Affairs Producer Ashley Julier sat down with Select Board chair Kevin Keane to discuss the town’s next steps.
