Virtual Tour: Portraiture at The Huntington Art Museum
January 7, 2025 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
FreePlease join us for a virtual visit to The Huntington Art Museum, which will focus on the museum’s exceptional collection of European and American portrait paintings from the 18th to the 21st century.
In 1921, the beloved portrait of a young man dressed in blue, by British painter Thomas Gainsborough, left London for its new home in San Marino, California, at the mansion of Henry and Arabella Huntington. One hundred years later, in 2021, The Huntington Museum commissioned American artist Kehinde Wiley to create a portrait “in response” to the Gainsborough masterpiece to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the museum.
This event will be hosted on Zoom and is free and open to the public, but registration is required for non-members to receive the meeting link: https://needhamartassociation.org/programs/
