All-Electric Homes and Solar Requirements
October 12, 2023
• Town Meeting will consider adopting new stricter energy guidelines for new construction this fall. At a Select Board public hearing, voices from both sides of the debate were heard.
A complex issue is about to come in front of town meeting members, when they debate the merits of adopting the Municipal Opt-in Specialized Stretch Energy Code. It is a big push toward cleaner energy and reducing the town’s carbon footprint, but developers fear production delays, and making the town even less affordable for people looking at new homes. Before the article makes it to the floor, the public had a chance to both champion the cause and raise their concerns at the Needham Select Board meeting on October 10th.
