Needham Post 14 Stays Undefeated at Home with Win Over Quincy

June 27, 2025
• Needham Legion Baseball is 5-0 at home so far this season.

Just a week after going 4-0 at home, Needham Post 14 picked up another win at Memorial Park on Friday, June 27, defeating Morrisette (Quincy) Post 294 5-0.

Nick Buckley pitched another great game, throwing six scoreless innings while allowing just three hits and two walks. He also recorded six strikeouts in the victory.

Needham scored their first run in the second inning, courtesy of an RBI single from David Ching that brought Will Saratella home. They added another run in the third, when Adam Hess hit an RBI single. But, in the fourth, Needham scored three runs to make it a 5-0 lead. Two of those three runs came from Buckley, who grounded into a fielder’s choice. Brandon McHugh added the final run for Needham with a deep double to centerfield.

The game remained scoreless after that, but Quincy pitcher Aidan Scarvalas was pulled with two outs the bottom of the sixth after allowing five runs on six hits and striking out only two batters. On the flip side, Hess closed the door in the top of the seventh for Needham, striking out one and forcing a groundout into a double play.

The team improved to 7-2 with the win, and will be back in action on Sunday, June 29 at 5 p.m. at Memorial Field against Hyde Park Post 78.
