Budget Process Begins for School Department

• Town boards are wrapping up business for 2024, but the Needham School Committee is preparing their wish list for 2025 and beyond. Their meetings this month center on next year’s budget.
It may be six months before a final town budget comes in front of Town Meeting for appropriation, but each year the Needham School Committee kicks off the process by hearing the thoughts of the school administration, in the form of the Superintendent’s proposed budget. At their December 10th meeting they received the overview from Dr. Daniel Gutekanst and his team, and they will dive into the details with presentations throughout the month of January. Municipal Producer Yuxiao Yuan tells us why this year, things are looking a little bit different.
