Neighbors and Planning Board Share Concerns About Potential Subdivision
August 29, 2024
• An application to subdivide two parcels of land led neighbors to a Needham Planning Board Public Hearingthis week. They are concerned about the potential for increased flooding and the removal of healthy trees.
A small Needham neighborhood was the center of a lot of discussion at the Needham Planning Board meeting on August 28th. At issue was a proposed plan to combine land from two properties and redraw them into three separate lots, geared to allow the continued use of a commercial property and create two duplex homes where one currently exists. While the creation of new housing options is a goal of the town, neighbors and board members alike expressed concerns about the personal and environmental impacts the development might have on an aging town infrastructure, and properties already reporting problems with stormwater. Municipal Producer Yuxiao Yuan looks at the discussion that took place as the board’s exploration of the project begins.
