Checking in on the Town’s Food Safety Program

• The Food Safety Excellence Policy changed the scoring system to encourage food establishments to maintain high safety standards to prevent foodborne illnesses.
Over the past year, the Needham Public Health Division has been revamping its food safety program to help provide restaurants and other food establishments with the motivation to excel. With a new grading system in place, they hope to provide vendors with new insights on their best practices, and give them the tools they need to succeed and avoid costly setbacks. It was a meeting of the interns as the Needham Channel’s Ben Gilman sat down with the NPHD’s Hanna Touadjine to talk about the program’s implementation, and how it has gone so far.
