• Needham Public Health would like to use new funding to hire personnel for youth mental health and substance use prevention.
Town budgets are always tight, and there are times when more could be done if only there were a way to make it happen. The Public Health Department is in a rare position, where money is coming in, and they have the flexibility to choose, within program parameters, what they want to do with it. Payments from the national Opioid settlement, and separate funds secured through an agreement with Boston Children’s Hospital, are heading to Special Town Meeting for allocation. Municipal Producer Yuxiao Yuan gives us the lowdown on how the department is planning on putting that money to work for the town.
