Pollard Class Encourages Critical Thinking
A Data Science elective at Pollard Middle School has grown in popularity since its inception in 2020.
Aired January 19, 2023.
Information is just words until you bring meaning to it, and data is just numbers until you do the same. Learning to read those numbers and ascribe value to them is a challenge, and students need to develop those evaluation skills. It is something that Pollard Middle School teachers are trying to imbue upon their students in an elective course that teaches them to take a step back, look and learn what the world is trying to tell them. The program can be heady–but it is also very, very popular. Yuxiao Yuan reports.
