In partnership with BME Strategies\, a Massachusetts-based public health consulting firm\, we are developing new recommendations for youth smartphone and social media use outside of school settings in Needham. Your input will ensure these guidelines reflect the needs and values of the Needham community. \nWe are hosting two sessions over Zoom on Monday\, March 23rd from 4:30 – 5:30 PM and Thursday\, March 26th from 12:00 – 1:00 PM. We welcome you to join the session that best fits your schedule. DESCRIPTION:The Needham Public Health Division and the Substance Prevention Alliance of Needham (SPAN)\, in partnership with the Needham Youth & Family Services Department\, are hosting Conversations with Your Middle Schooler: Why You Shouldn’t Wait to Talk About Substance Use. This free series\, is designed for parents and caregivers of children in grades 5–8. \nThis program provides parents with practical information about underage drinking and other substance use\, along with guidance and strategies for having age-appropriate\, meaningful conversations with their children. Parents will have the opportunity to connect with one another and feel supported in navigating these conversations. \nSessions are scheduled on Monday evenings\, 6:30 – 7:45pm on January 26\, February 23\, & March 23 at The Center at the Heights\, 300 Hillside Ave\, Needham. \nPlease see the attached program flyer for registration details and additional information.
