SUMMARY:Call for Walkers: Register for the 37th Annual Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai
DESCRIPTION:Registration is open for the 2025 Jimmy Fund Walk presented by Hyundai. Scheduled for Sunday\, Oct. 5\, funds raised from the Jimmy Fund Walk support all forms of adult and pediatric care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The Jimmy Fund Walk will aim to raise $9.5 million this year in the effort to prevent\, treat\, and defy cancer. \n  \nThe Details: \nThe Jimmy Fund Walk is the only organized walk permitted to use the famed Boston Marathon® course\, and participants have the flexibility to choose from four distance options: \n  \n\n5K walk: Starting at Dana-Farber’s Longwood Medical Campus\n10K walk: Starting in Newton\nHalf Marathon walk: Starting in Wellesley\nMarathon walk: Starting in Hopkinton\n\n  \nAll along the route\, walkers will be motivated by poster-sized photographs of patients—Jimmy Fund Walk Heroes—that are the heart of the event and appear along the course as inspiration. Walkers will also be treated to refueling stations with refreshments throughout the course. \n  \nThe event will conclude at the Jimmy Fund Walk Finish Line at Boston Common\, by the corner of Charles and Beacon Streets. Finish line activities will include a celebration with food\, entertainment\, and more. Walkers who prefer to participate virtually can complete their chosen distance from any location \n  \nRegister as an individual walker\, team member\, or start a team. SUMMARY:Friend's of the Needham Public Library Book Sale
DESCRIPTION:Fall Book Sale is coming soon!\nThe Fall Book Sale of the Friends of the Needham Public Library will open on Friday\, October 3 from 12:00 to 4:00.  The sale continues on Saturday\, October 4\, from 9:00 to 4:00\, and on Sunday\, October 5\,  from 1:00 to 4:00.\nIndividually priced books in the Friends’ Book Shop will be half-priced starting at 12:00 Friday\, and continuing all day Saturday and Sunday.  Items in the Community Room are uniformly priced from 12:00 to 4:00 on Friday and all day Saturday.  These include hardcovers and trade paperbacks at $1.00\, mass market paperbacks at 50 cents\, and CDs and DVDs at $1.00.   \nSunday is bargain day in the Community Room\, during which all items are half-price.  A brown bag of books is a true bargain at $8.00  \nFiction\, general non-fiction\, some separate non-fiction categories\, children’s youth\, and young adult books are among the many that will be available in the library’s Community Room.  The fall sale will feature holiday books as well.\nPlease note that only cash or checks will be accepted for payment.   \nThe Needham Free Library\, located at 1139 Highland Avenue\, is handicap accessible.  The best access to the lower level Community Room is from the library parking lot on Rosemary Street.
