Award-Winning Film In A Different Key Premieres in Needham
February 11, 2025 – Needham invites the community to the premiere of In A Different Key, an award-winning documentary that follows a mother’s journey to uncover the life story of the first person diagnosed with autism, now an elderly man living in rural Mississippi. Her search reveals a history of cruelty and kindness shaped by race, money, and privilege, culminating in a message of hope and a call to action for a more inclusive society.
The evening, generously funded by the Needham Education Foundation (NEF) in collaboration with Needham Community Education (NCE), will conclude with a dynamic panel discussion exploring how themes from the film impact the experiences of today’s youth. This event aims to foster understanding and inspire meaningful dialogue around autism and inclusion.
Based on the best-selling book of the same name, In A Different Key has received widespread acclaim, including a finalist nomination for the Pulitzer Prize in General Non-Fiction (2017).
