Upcoming Events in September:

Fall Catalog Open House: Chai with Charly, with Charly and Needham Community Education. September 8. Drop in for tea, meet NCE staff, learn about upcoming Adult Programs, and share ideas for classes you would love to see.

Continuing Watercolor Workshop: Alpine Washes, with Sally Meding. September 11. Practice watercolor techniques in a guided workshop focused on creating luminous alpine washes, with step-by-step instruction and helpful reference materials.

Cocktail Tasting at Cappella Restaurant: Italian-Inspired Cocktails, with Paul Malagrifa. September 13. Explore modern Italian-inspired cocktails while learning about balance, freshness, and technique, then enjoy tastings paired with hors d’oeuvres.

Morning Pastries: Prepare and Enjoy at Third Space Kitchen, with Eric Brown and a Third Space Kitchen chef. September 14. Make classic breakfast pastries, including enriched and laminated dough favorites, then relax and enjoy what you have baked together.

Latin Cardio Fitness, with Angelica Lopez. September 14 – November 2. Get moving to salsa, cha cha, samba, merengue, reggaeton, pop, and more in an upbeat, heart-pumping dance workout.

Beginning Drawing: Ignite Your Creativity, with Eddie Bruckner. September 15 – October 27. Learn foundational drawing skills including shading, proportion, composition, line, light, and shadow through approachable step-by-step projects.

Strength Training for Women at FIERCE by Choice, with Derith Avila. September 16 – November 11. Build full-body strength using dumbbells, kettlebells, bands, medicine balls, and bodyweight exercises in a welcoming all-levels workout.

Line Dancing, with Karen Leeds. September 16 – October 7. Learn several fun, straightforward line dances each week, no prior dance experience required.

French Café: Conversation and Culture, with Barry Bridgelal. September 16 – October 14. Practice spoken French while exploring culture and current topics in a relaxed, conversation-focused setting.

Understanding Medicare, with Daniel Williams, CLU, ChFC, CFP. September 16. Get a clear overview of Medicare Parts A, B, C, and D, Medicare Advantage, Medigap, enrollment timing, penalties, and key health-care choices for age 65 and beyond.

Taste of Djembe (West African Hand Drumming), with Allison Cornelisse. September 16. Try basic djembe techniques and traditional West African rhythms while building confidence, coordination, and musical connection, no prior experience needed.

Smartphone Photography, with Steve McGrath. September 17 – October 8. Learn to get more from your phone camera with better controls, composition, editing apps, sharing, and printing tips for everyday photos, portraits, and landscapes.

Weave a Round Apple Basket, with William Krier. September 19. Learn traditional basket-weaving techniques as you create a useful round apple basket to take home.
