Struggles Continue for Needham Football

October 9, 2026
• This is the second straight year the Rockets have started 0-5.

Needham football fell to 0-5 on the season with a 38-7 loss to Milton, who is ranked 5th in the latest MIAA Division 3 Power Rankings, on Friday, Oct. 9.

Despite putting together their best offensive game of the season last week against Walpole, the Rockets struggled offensively against the Wildcats.

Milton got on the board first with a two-yard touchdown run from captain Peter Skutnik with 7:08 left to play in the first quarter. The extra point attempt was blocked, making it 6-0 Wildcats.

On the kickoff back to the Rockets, Milton caught Needham off guard with an onside kick that they recovered. The Wildcats drove down the field and Skutnik scored his second touchdown of the night.

Down 12-0, the Rockets went 3-and-out on their next drive. Milton’s run game continued to dominate, this time with Jayden Dubios, who scored a 2-yard rushing touchdown. Needham blocked another extra point attempt,  but they fumbled on their next drive, giving Milton excellent field position.

Wildcats’ quarterback Sean Lane scored a 8-yard rushing touchdown shortly after the fumble, extending Milton’s lead to 25-0.

Jack Ringer threw an interception on the Rockets next drive, setting the Wildcats up within the Needham 10-yard line. Dubios scored on 4th and goal with 5:12 to play in the first half, and again the Rockets blocked the extra point.

Needham fumbled on the next drive, their third straight drive with a turnover. But, this time the defense came up with a stop on fourth and goal and went into halftime down 31-0.

Milton had 101 rush yards in the first half, while the Rockets managed just 17 yards of total offense.

Dubois continued his strong performance in the beginning of the third, with a 47 yard rushing touchdown to make it 38-0 Milton.

Needham put points on the board with 3:19 left in the third, on a huge 50-yard touchdown pass from Ringer to Jayden Greenfield.

With their backup quarterback in the game, Milton continued to pound the ball down the field. But, Needham’s defense made another stop on fourth down near the end zone to make the final score 38-7.

Milton had 222 rushing yards in the game, 152 of them from Dubois.

The Rockets will go on the road to face Braintree next Friday, while Milton will host Walpole.
