Future Garden Street Complex Still in Development

August 13, 2026
• Hoping to garner support for a streamlined process, developers returned to the Select Board to update them on their plans for 193 Garden St.

At their meeting on March 10, the Select Board heard a proposal for a new development to be located at 193 Garden St. The plan would construct five duplex condominiums, each with four to five bedrooms on the lot. The project, which is being helmed by Fuller Brook, Ltd, would depend on a Local Initiative project designation, or “Friendly 40B,” to ease adherence to zoning bylaws. In exchange, three of the 10 units would be deemed affordable, more than is required by the town and state.

Concerns about scale and impact on the parcel’s wetlands brought the “Gardners’ Nest” project back before the board on April 28, and more recently on Aug. 11, with more expansive surveying, additional documentation and revisions in the plan addressing design concerns. The concept still maintains its initial scope and pushback from the neighbors has been consistent throughout the process, leading Select Board members to suggest it may be time to compromise their initial vision.

Please Note: In the recorded video segment, the appearance before the Select Board was described as a public hearing. While the discussions occurred in open session, no public hearing has been held on this project to date. We regret the error.
