Town Mulls MBTA Proposals
April 4, 2024
• Residents and business owners in the Needham community shared their thoughts regarding the zoning proposals to increase multifamily housing in town at the HONE meeting on March 28, 2024.
It been a long haul for the Housing Needham Advisory Group (HONE) over the past year as they attempted to give shape to Zoning proposals that would satisfy the residents and business owners of the town, and bring Needham into compliance with the MBTA Communities Law. They presented two plans to the community on March 28th, and solicited feedback in an effort to finalize them before the town submits them for state evaluation at the beginning of May. Town Meeting will choose between the two approaches this fall. As we await the last public meeting, a joint meeting between the Select Board, Finance Committee, HONE and the Planning Board, to be held April 30th, Municipal Producer Yuxiao Yuan looks back at the hearing, and the main considerations for the two levels of compliance.
For further on the discussion at the hearing, check out the article by Cameron Morsberger, posted on Needham Local last week.
