The USS Bunker Hill was an aircraft carrier which saw extensive action in the Pacific during World War Two. Built in Quincy, MA and launched one year after the attack on Pearl Harbor, she would be the victim of Kamikaze attacks off Okinawa on May 11,1945. Suffering heavy casualties and damage, her crew would keep her afloat and allow her to return to America. This talk by Bob Begin will focus on the mindset of a Kamikaze pilot, numerous acts of bravery and sacrifice by the officers and men of the Bunker Hill. This is the story of a valiant ship and her men that warrants retelling.
