Rockets Volleyball/Field Hockey Endure an Uneven Week

October 11, 2024
• With the football team on a bye week, we take a look at recent games by two Needham teams facing a challenging fall.

As the Rockets head into the final two weeks of their regular season schedule, it is hard not to keep an eye on their prospects for the upcoming tournaments. The opportunities to prove themselves are growing fewer, and two Needham teams were looking to improve their standings in spite of the challenges they faced this fall.

The girls volleyball team head into last week with a 8-3 record, and was on tap for a tough matchup against Lincon-Sudbury Regional High School, formidable contenders coming into the game at 9-2. The Rockets field hockey squad had been struggling all season long, looking to turn around a five-game streak in the wrong direction by taking on the Weymouth Wildcats. Joe McGinty walks us through all the action.

The Needham Channel is your home for Needham Rockets Varsity Football and you can watch every game, home and away on The Needham Channel’s HD, Community and Education Channels, as well as streaming on needhamchannel.org and our Roku app. The last regular season home game, October 25th against Weymouth will be carried live on-air and online, with the road games to be recorded and debuting Monday nights. We will also have game stories from every game here on Needham Local, as well as highlights posted to our Needham Channel YouTube page on Mondays.
