The Impact of Community Feedback
January 11, 2024
• At the January 9th Select Board meeting, new RTS policy was put in place after receiving comments from the community, and a date was set to bring together stakeholders concerned about the town’s rules regarding trees on private property. They also took steps to advance the removal of the Fire Department from the state’s civil service system.
In the aftermath of several storms in 2023, homeowners approached the Select Board to express their frustration. Years of flood damage, and the perception that things were getting worse instead of better brought them to ask the board to intervene. At the first meeting of the year, they took action together with the Town Manager and the Department of Public Works, with new policies that make some of those community suggestions a reality. Municipal producer Yuxiao Yuan has the recap.
